Nomads goal is to be an industry leader in environmentally responsible business practices. Nomads will pursue processes that are designed to minimise waste, maximise efficient use of energy and materials and conserve resources.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint.

We are committed to recycling as much waste as possible and encourage all of our hostel guests to do the same. Each hostel has one or more recycling points for hostel guests and staff are advised to use / print as little paper as possible, paper is also re-used wherever possible.

We are reducing the need for print advertising within our properties and encourage the use of chalk boards or whiteboards for all forms of inhouse advertising.

All lightbulbs are being replaced with energy efficient bulbs throughout all Nomads properties.

Staff are to switch all electrical items off when not in use including lights and guests are reminded throughout the hostel of the need to consider the environment by keeping showers short, electrical goods plugged in only when they need to be charged, switching the lights off when they leave their rooms and filling the kettle with only the amount of water they need in addition to a number of other things.

Each toilet, wherever possible, has a dual flush system in addition to a toilet insert to reduce the volume of water being used.

Nomads Australia - The Great Barrier Reef Foundation -

Each Nomads Hostel has a collection bucket on the desk year round to raise money for these charities, and once yearly each hostel hosts a fundraising night.

Reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging environmentally responsible practices is a company-wide initiative. It is vital to Nomads that our employees share our commitment therefore we strive to recruit, educate and train our employees in these values on an ongoing basis throughout their careers with us.
